"Making bread was intimidating and while I had everything I needed, somehow I had convinced myself there was no way this was possible for me. Then one Saturday I decided to do it afraid. Taking my Sourdough starter, I followed all your directions, convinced the whole time I was doing everything wrong...Pulling the bread out of the oven I was surprised at how much it actually looked like one of those amazing Artisan loafs. Wow, I made that I thought, almost tearing up...I would never have been as successful without what I learned from taking this course."

Baking with sourdough can be intimidating.
Have you ever tried to start your own wild yeasted sourdough starter, only to end up with a smelly mess that never got that bubbly rise people talk about?
Have you ever tried to bake an artisan loaf, felt the excitement as the smell of fresh-baked bread filled your kitchen, only to pull it out of the oven and discover a flat disk more closely resembling a hockey puck than fluffy, sliceable bread?
Maybe you never even got that far. Maybe you read a sourdough bread recipe on a blog somewhere, saw something about stretch and folds every hour for four hours and said "no thank you."
You're not alone.
Even seasoned bread bakers can get lost in the intricacies of sourdough baking.
And yes, sourdough bread IS more intricate than other yeasted breads, but the process CAN be simple! Our brand new course The Art of Sourdough Bread is like having a master baker right there in your very own kitchen, walking you through each step.

"I have always loved sourdough IF it had a certain taste to it (likely a childhood taste ☺️) and always had difficulty finding it. I thought sourdough was this mystical, terribly difficult to make and required some sort of sorcery 🤣. I did not think I could ever make my own.
But about 6 weeks ago I started and to my surprise it was quite simple and the huge bonus is I CAN GET THE FLAVOR I WANT!!!!!! It is quite simple. It took an extra week to mature but been baking bread like a maniac. I was having trouble with rise in the oven but came to learn my oven has moisture vents 🤔. I had no idea modern ovens did this. Now I plug the vents and great loaves. Still a lot to learn but SUCCESS.

Bread isn’t usually seen as a healthy food option, but all that changes when you learn to bake with healthy flours. The long fermentation process also breaks down some of the starch and gluten in the flour, making it easier to digest than other bread

“I have made quite a few sourdough loaves since learning how to make the starter and watching Carolyn’s videos over and over. I recently took some of my starter with me to my daughters in Melbourne and made her some sourdough bread which her family enjoyed. Once you have a mature starter, the rest is easy as long as you follow Carolyn’s step by step instructions. I am so glad I did!"

Meet Your Instructor
I’m Carolyn Thomas! My husband, Josh, and I live on 40 acres in Idaho where we grow, preserve, and prepare most of our own food right on our property.
But I didn’t always know how to make delicious sourdough from scratch. In fact, the first time I tried to make it, I failed miserably!
I was confused about the process, so my loaf ended up being really dense and very sour... not pleasant at all.
I did everything I was supposed to do, and more, but as it turns out, sourdough isn’t just about following a recipe.
It's a multi-day process with a set of techniques and skills that apply to all kinds of products, no matter the recipe or flour used.
If you’re like me, you didn’t have the chance to learn those skills from your grandmother.
That’s why I created this course - It’s clear and thorough, and it’s the kind of thing that I wish someone had given me when I was a young mom trying to make a sourdough starter for the first time.
Sourdough doesn't have to be intimidating or confusing. In this course I'll walk you through my step-by-step process for successful sourdough.
