Why I Created the Confident Canning Workshop
I believe learning to preserve food shouldn't feel impossible.
You shouldn't have to piece together ten conflicting YouTube videos.
Wonder whether the recipe you found is actually safe.
Lie awake wondering if your jars sealed correctly.
Or feel like you need a chemistry degree just to preserve some green beans.
Like most of us, I didnât grow up on a farm. I didnât inherit land or know anything about growing and preserving food. In fact, my journey began on a tiny apartment patio where I started cooking from scratch and preserving what I could out of pure necessity! My husband Josh and I were poor as church mice with a growing family to support and very limited time.
Trying to mesh these old world skills with modern schedules can be tough. We didnât grow up seeing homesteading âbaked inâ to everyday life the way our great grandmothers did. When I started out, I felt that same overwhelm and frustration you might be feeling now.
One evening, I sat down on the front porch with Josh and started crying. I said, "Where are the women who are supposed to show me how to do this?"Â
And he looked and me and said, "Honey. You're going to have to become that for the next generation."
Today I preserve between 800 - 1200 jars of food every year, all using SAFE, tested, approved recipes. I don't take chances when it comes to my family's health, and I don't believe you should either.Â
I want to hand you the confidence to safely preserve food in your own kitchen and give you the tools to take control of your family's health and future.Â
Come Can With Me!By the end of our day together you will...
- Understand the foundations of safe home canning, so you know why tested methods matter, not just that they do.
- Know exactly which supplies you actually need (and which ones you can skip).
- Watch the complete canning process from start to finish, so there are no more mysteries about what it actually looks like.
- Learn how to confidently recognize and avoid unsafe recipes and questionable advice online.
- Walk into your own kitchen thinking, "I can absolutely do this."
Success Stories
âCarolyn is an excellent teacher. I am thankful for all that she has contributed and continues to contribute to the homesteading and self-reliance community. The content grows your knowledge and confidence. What she teaches is accurate and well informed. But the best thing about her videos is that they feel supportive, and welcoming. You will feel like you are learning from an encouraging friend.â -Â Maria
âHomesteading Family is my go-to when I have questions about just about anything related to gardening, preserving, raising animals, or anything else homestead related. I trust Carolyn to share accurate information, so I don't have to wade through all the mis-information out there. I so appreciate her willingness to share so much of herself and her family with so many to help us all along on this journey and to create a community that can be challenging to find on our own. I can't recommend Homesteading Family highly enough.â -Â Kelly
âOf all the media out there Carolynâs content has always been one I can trust. It is very evident she goes above and beyond to educate and gives you the confidence to believe you can do this! I am so thankful for a peek into her homestead and for the wisdom she imparts in every video.â -Â Gina
