The Strawberry Issue of Homestead Kitchen Magazine is Here!

Inside this issue, Heather Levin shares how to expand what you feed your flock with Berry Delicious: All the Berries Chickens Can Enjoy, a reminder that even your animals can benefit from the abundance growing around you. And Lauren Landers walks you through choosing the right strawberries for your garden - because starting well makes all the difference when you’re hoping for a harvest that comes back year after year.

If you’ve ever struggled with keeping your plants healthy, Dianne Hadorn breaks down common strawberry diseases in a way that’s practical and manageable, not overwhelming. And for those of you thinking ahead (or trying to catch up), Mary Peed’s freezer jam is one of the simplest ways to start preserving without needing a full day or a shelf full of equipment.

You’ll get a deeper glimpse into Homesteading Family through my daughter, Rachel Thomas Entz, and hear reflections on hospitality from Danae Hutchinson that gently challenge what it really means to serve others well.
