Thank you for your participation in moderating the Homestead Kitchen Membership Community for Homesteading Family! This group is busy and active, and we greatly appreciate your help! We want to make sure that group members are getting the encouragement and help that they need to further their homesteading skills.
There is no time requirement for Moderators, but to continue to receive free membership access to the Homestead Kitchen, you will need to remain actively moderating in the group. Our goal is to have a Moderator in the group two times a day. If each Moderator checks in about 3-4 times a week, we should have no problem with this.
We created a special Moderator only community so the Moderator team can easily communicate with each other. If you need to take a break for longer than a few days (vacation, family needs, etc.) please let the Moderator team know in the Moderator Lounge so that the rest of the team members can help cover the gap.
The Homestead Kitchen Membership Community is a group where members can:
- Ask questions related to all things homesteading. This may be related to Homesteading Family content, or not.
- Request help or troubleshooting assistance when they run into difficulty
- Share photos of successes and problems
- Support other members’ homesteading journey
Here are the specific areas I need your help with:
· Fostering and encouraging community – you can do this by leaving helpful, encouraging comments.
· Help them learn by offering them the information/content they need. Feel free to tag another Moderator if needing additional input. Each of you have your own areas of expertise, so take advantage of this by tagging another Moderator as needed.
· Posting your own photos, successes, and failures when the comments/conversation slow down
· Notifying Michele or Rachel of anything posted that is inappropriate.
· As much as possible, allow time for other group members to answer questions before posting an answer yourself. This encourages a sense of community!
How to handle inappropriate posts:
Inappropriate posts would include anything that is sexually suggestive in nature or that belittles or demeans anyone or uses language that is not appropriate for small children (we like to keep it family friendly!). We have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior and thankfully, this is a very rare problem.
We don’t see a lot of inappropriate posts, so this is not something we deal with often. When it happens, screenshot the post in question and share to the Moderator group tagging Michele and Rachel. Responses to off-topic posts should always be framed with kindness. Most often, a simple redirect is all that is needed.
If the post in question appears to be a serious breach of group rules, please screenshot the post, share to the Moderator group AND email Robyn right away and she will handle it.
Feel free to post in the Moderator Lounge anytime with any concerns about the group, your moderation, or anything else.
Please keep all Homestead Kitchen related conversation strictly within the Moderator Lounge. If you have a sensitive topic to discuss, feel free to email Robyn privately, or if desired, both Robyn and Michele jointly, in the same email.
As the group grows, we will continue to add new Moderators so that additional backup is in place. We always want this to be fun for you, so you can enjoy your time volunteering with Homesteading Family!!!
In return for your help:
I am so thankful for your help! In return for your time, you are awarded a free Gold Level membership to the Homestead Kitchen! This includes access to ALL of Homesteading Family’s classes, the Video Vault, all previous editions of In the Homestead Kitchen magazine, and of course The Homestead Kitchen Community. New courses and additional content to current courses are added regularly and we hope they are a blessing to you!
Thanks again for your help! You guys are awesome!
Love,
Carolyn
